Chemical Free Pools
No matter how crystal clear your pool may look, it is still saturated with chemical contaminants. Using chemicals is a circular cycle that costs a lot of time and money on top of the risky health hazards. Chlorine is highly toxic, and it is not the only culprit.
Bromine is considered less abrasive than chlorine but was still banned as a disinfectant in public spas by the Provincial Board of Health of Alberta. Ozone may be a fast-acting option, but it leaves no sanitation in the water once it quickly evaporates. It also dissolves rubber washers in pumps, filters, and pool fixtures and must be used in conjunction with chlorine. A salt water chlorinator, also known as a salt water generator, essentially means that you make the chlorine yourself.
Therefore, salt water pools mean the same risks as chlorinated pools. Finally, Hydrogen Peroxide is non-toxic and probably the least unhealthy method, but compared to ionization, is very expensive and cannot boast the health benefits of chemical free pools.
In order to protect your pool and your swimmers, ionization is your safest and most-effective option. A chemical free pool IS crystal clear.
