Intec has worked with growers and the largest food integrators for over 30 years on water related issues in growout operations.  Common issues tend to be related to high mineral content such as iron, manganese, hardness minerals, or high TDS.  Some minerals and trace elements effect feed conversion on animals or can stunt the growth or even kill crops and produce.  Water sources available to livestock have been identified as important biosecurity and agroterrorism concerns.  Many foodborne pathogens, in particular Campylobacter, Salmonella, E. coli, and Staphylococcus, can be spread throughout the flock via the drinking water.  Protective measures need to be in place to reduce vulnerability for microbial infection.
